What to Expect

We understand that genetic counseling may be new to you. Here are a few things you can expect at your appointment:

  • Discussion of personal and family health history

  • Discussion of your goals for the session

  • What genetic testing is and isn't

  • Benefits and limitations of genetic testing

  • How to share results with family

  • A plan for minimizing your risk

A big part of genetic counseling involves reviewing your family health history. Gather as much information as you can prior to the appointment.

 

Information to gather includes:

health information on family members including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To ensure the best use of our time, please submit, by email, any relevant medical records, genetic test results and questions your have prior to the scheduled appointment.
